But the 2022 Making The World Happening Award Winner for his numerous online theatre-related offerings at Allevents.in usually performed these roles in modest and small venues. This summer, however, Darryl Maximilian Robinson will be playing in a space with the potential for a much larger audience.
At 2:30 pm. on Saturday and Sunday Afternoons from July 13th through August 4th of 2024, Darryl Maximilian Robinson will have the joy and privilege of recreating on stage a part that the late, great 1930s and 1940s fim comedy actor Edward Everett Horton played in the 1931 Oscar-nominated Best Film of "The Front Page," when he assumes the humorous, well-written, supporting character role of the extremely tidy, fussy, poetry spewing, hypochondriac Chicago Tribune News Reporter Roy V. Bensinger in skilled Adapter and Director Trace Oakley's fresh version of real-life. Chicago Newspaper Reporters Ben Hecht's and Charles MacArthur's legendary 1928 stage comedy about newspapermen, "The Front Page," which has been cleverly blended with Hollywood scriptwriter Charles Lederer's ( Hildy Johnson as the female lead ) 1941 revised screenplay of "His Girl Friday," in The 2024 Culver City Public Theatre staging being presented as Free-Theatre-In-The-Park this summer at the popular Dr. Paul Carlson Memorial Park in Culver City, California.
The talented cast of the new production is led by experienced CCPT member Rizzy Fuentes as Walter Burns ( the part of the hilariously unscrupulous and morally bankrupt newspaper editor and publisher, which brought to Hollywood Golden Age star Adolph Menjou his sole career Academy Award nomination for Best Leading Actor In A Motion Picture for the 1931 first film of "The Front Page," and which solidified for Tinseltown screen legend Cary Grant, his strong reputation as one of the best leading male actors in comedy for the 1941 female reboot "His Girl Friday" ); established CCPT regular Tanya Laine as Hildy Johnson ( the part of the witty, skilled and determined to leave this business of being a journalist at any cost woman in Lederer's movie script, a performance of which that scored for the late, great actress Ms. Rosalind Russell her first Academy Award nomination for Best Leading Actress In A Motion Picture Actress for "His Girl Friday" ); and engaged CCPT newcomer Philip Rossi as Bruce Baldwin ( the part of the amusing and charming and occasionally befuddled insurance man from Albany, New York, played in the 1941 classic "His Girl Friday" by young Ralph Bellamy, as a perfect comedic straight man, and who later in his long career would for his stage work win the Tony Award for Best Leading Actor In A Play on Broadway for playing FDR ).
Other gifted, talented and committed performers featured in The Culver City Public Theatre new revival of "The Front Page" include: Danielle Fraser as Endicott, Tamara Koltes as Molly Malloy, Steven Milner as Sheriff Hartman, Eric Billitzer doubling as Dr. Max J. Eglehofffer and The Mayor, Alicia Sterling Beach as McCue, Ted Burke as Diamond Louie, Phoenix Ever as Wilson, Rory McLaverty as Schwartz, Lynda Palmer as Mrs. Baldwin, Roderick Walker as Murphy and Tae Ho Yoon doubling as Gus and Earl Williams. "The Front Page" Adapter and Director Trace Oakley will appear in the role of Mr. Pinkus.
All are welcome to come and see this funny and unique new production of a hilarious stage and screen classic in this popular and lovely Culver City recreation venue AND THE ADMISSION IS ABSOLUTELY FREE!
