Appearing As The Reverend Sykes In Playwright Christopher Sergel's Effective Adaptation of Harper Lee's Classic Tale To Kill A Mockingbird, Darryl Maximilian Robinson Had The Joy Of Working With One of The Finest Directors And Casts That Could Be Found Working On A Stage In Los Angeles[]

"...Darryl Maximilian Robinson brings Reverend Sykes' Baptist preacher-ness to dynamic life..." -- Steven Stanley, Stage Scene LA, Feb. 9, 2011.

"Other noteworthy performances were given by Kyle Kelley, who plays the just, if not always lawful Sheiff Heck Tate, and Darryl Maximilian Robinson, whose "Amen, Sister!" portrayal of the Reverend Sykes was right on. Preach it, Brother!" -- Jackie Houchin, The American Chronicle, Feb. 7, 2011.

In the winter of 2011, veteran and award-winning stage actor and play director Darryl Maximilian Robinson had one of his best LA theatre experiences when he was cast as The Reverend Sykes in skilled and committed Director Diedra Celeste Miranda's critically-praised and five-time Stage Scene LA "Scenie" Award-winning production of effective playwright Christopher Sergel's To Kill A Mockingbird presented in-the-round at the popular Glendale Centre Theatre of Glendale, California. Mr. Robinson was delighted to play the role of the passionate Baptist preacher in a well-staged production of Sergel's well-written adaptation of the Harper Lee classic tale of childhood memories and heart-wrenching racism in the deep south during The Great Depression. Miranda brilliantly staged the work in-the-round and cast the work equally as well. Playing the Reverend Sykes, Mr. Robinson was pleased to work with highly-talented young actors Camille Gibney as Scout, Liam Johnson as Jem and Carter Thomas as Dill. Skilled actress Marianne Lewis as Calpurnia was another performer Mr. Robinson enjoyed working with under Ms. Miranda's strong direction. And when not rehearsing, Mr. Robinson was very pleased to watch and observe the exceptional work of Thor Edgell ( who received a 2011 Stage Scene LA Theatre Award for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Play ) for his strong and powerful performance as Atticus Finch, Nick Cimiluca ( who received a 2011 Stage Scene LA Theatre Award for Outstanding Featured Actor In A Play ) for his effectively engaging performance as Boo Radley, and the touching Deosick Burney, who moved audiences and critics with his portrayal of the doomed Tom Robinson. The 2011 Glendale Centre Theatre staging of To Kill A Mockingbird ( which was staged during the 50th anniversary celebration of Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning book ) also won 2011 Stage Scene LA Theatre Awards for Outstanding Costume Design and Outstanding Sound Design, and the inspired Diedra Celeste Miranda received a 2011 Stage Scene LA Theatre Award for Outstanding Director of A Play. Mr. Robinson considers his participation in playwright Christopher Sergel's stage adaptation of Harper Lee's To Kill A Mockingbird a highlight of his Los Angeles theatre experiences.
